The electronics industry is one of the most exciting and fastest moving industries in today’s economy. The technological advances that occur at an alarming rate, making electronics products out of date only a few months after they were released. Makers of electronics are filled with extremely talented and creative engineers that can conceive of innovative new products and then make them a reality. A quick survey of almost any room in your home will show you how abundant electronics are from your television and DVD players, to your state of the art computers, to the plethora of handheld devices that are on your person at almost all times. As individuals, we are all spending hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars each year keeping up with the electronics trends, making sure that we have the coolest new products.
Despite all of the advances that have happened in the electronics industry, many people will argue that they do not actually provide any significant benefit, especially compared to the billions of dollars that are spent in them each year. Personally, I would argue the opposite. I can easily find numerous examples in my own life where new electronics have made my life easier, more convenient, or more enjoyable. I have no doubt that with minimal effort almost everyone would be able to find examples of how electronics have improved their lives as well. To those critics of advances in electronics, I would simply say that they should refrain from spending their money on them. We are all free to do as we please, and if someone wants to spend a few hundred dollars buying a new TV, or iPod, or whatever device they want, who are these critics to judge?
