As an avid video gamer, I have a deserved appreciation for someone who can program an X Box Game. After hours on a given X Box game, I am always amazed by the extreme complexity of every single X Box game. Not only are there an almost limitless number of paths and possibilities, but every detail of the background in an X Box game is given utmost attention. When I was younger, I would never notice all of the details in a given X Box game, but now I am amazed every time I play a video game. As video games have progressed over the years, their complexity has also increased greatly. The number of programmers that work on a single X Box game must be quite high. The level of communication that must occur in such a team is tremendous, in order for all the parts of the X Box game to fit together at the end.
I think that it is unfortunate that most video game users never take the time to appreciate the amount of effort and expertise required to make an X Box game. Too many people take their video games for granted, and sometime complain about the price of an X Box game, without even considering how difficult it is to program a game. Furthermore, since this industry is so competitive, it is imperative that new games are constantly being released with the new features. This will no doubt add to the stress and pressure on programmers making an X Box game. Hopefully there will one day be special features like are now found on DVDs explaining the ‘making of an X Box Game’ so that their consumers can begin to appreciate just how hard it is.
